Cloise & Mike Construction Inc. of Port Orchard, Washington completed a tear off and re-roof of my home on Harstine Island on March 20th. It is located in a 215-acre gated community at the north end of the island knows as Harstine Island Pointe. I cannot say enough good things about the owners, their employees, and the quality of their workmanship.

Theirs was one of four bids I considered. The propsal was fair compared with the others. But it was when I spoke with seven of their satisfied customers by phone that I realized I had discovered an absolute jewel in this outfit. I have worked with many building contractors over the past twenty-five years and built a large home in Normandy Park in 1986-1987. I have never heard more glowing reports about a company than I experienced during the two hours I spent in these phone conversations.

You will enjoy having these individuals around your house. They are consistently courteous and respectful and always go the extra mile to resolve a question or concern. Their knowledge of the roofing trade is outstanding, and their system of attacking a roofing project with a crew of 10-12 skilled laborers produces fast and effective results. Dear Garry, Hope things are well with you and Diane. Glade and I are fine and loving our condo. What a perfect place to live. I know you heard about our leaking roof vent in January. What a surprise to see water coming through the laundry room vent and the upstairs bathroom vent. Once again I want to give praise to Doris for her quick response to our need. I caught Doris at the office just as she was leaving for home. She called Cloise & Mike Construction as well as a Belfair roofing company in an effort to get us assistance. She stayed in touch with us until help was scheduled.

The roofing company in Belfair called us about 6:30 PM and said they could be out at 9:00 AM the next morning. A few minutes later Cloise & Mike called to say they were on their way. By 7:00 PM that same night, in the pouring rain, Tom Cowan and Glen Anderson were on our roof. They fixed the leak and took down the inside vent covers to allow the ceiling to dry. Two days later, Tom and Glen stopped by to check the roof and put the inside vents back in place.

You always have quality people working with you but Cloise & Mike Construction Inc. went beyond our expectations. We never thought that anyone would come out that late at night and work in the wind and rain. Tom and Glen's professionalism and customer service is outstanding. Without them water would have continued to pour in through the vents all night.

In the beginning of October 2007, the Western Washington area experienced the first major wind storm of the year. North Mason County was hit with sustained 50 mile an hour winds and gusts up to 75 miles per hour. The wind blew a large branch off a tree adjacent to our property approximately 40 yards away. The branch was about 12 feet long and weighed about 30 pounds. The branch came out off the tree and became impaled in our roof. The branch left a hole through shingles and the plywood about 4 inches in diameter. The storm also produced the beginning of the rainy season in Washington.

The following day, I called three roofing companies for repair estimates. The first two companies gave us estimates for the repair between $600 and $800. Cloise & Mike Construction was the third company to give us an estimate. Tommy Cowan arrived at our house within 20 minutes had temporarily patched the hole in the roof. Tommy told us he would come back and finish the repair. He thought he had replacement shingles back at the shop, and the next time he was in the area, he would finish the repair by replacing the shingles. Tommy returned two weeks later and completed the job.

We would like to thank your company, and Tommy in particular. Tommy was an answer to our prayer. He could have acted like a lot of others do, taking advantage of a situation and achieving maximum profit. Instead, he chose to help without reward to himself, and that is rare quality in today's world. Honesty and good character is a trait that is slowly leaving this business world it seems. Obviously, this is not the case with your company. It appears to me that these qualities remain the driving force of Tommy and your company. Sunday: The roof is leaking I think. Maybe if I ignore it will go away. Maybe the wet spot on the floor below the skylight after that big rain storm....was ...ummmm..my imagination. But I don't get a wink of sleep.

Monday: Another big rain...and ignoring is not working too well this time. I will ask my son to crawl up in the attic and see what is going on...

Tuesday: Um....it's not good. Words like "soft" "wet"..and needs replacing. He is pretty adamant that because this 20 year old roof ( which is now 23 years old) has some rain damage, I only have the work done by a real roofer. This is not a project for a "guy that knows a guy".

Wednesday: I check with the BBB and neighbors....even the guy at the dump to see who people I know and trust recommend....and one name and one name only keeps being mentioned.... Cloise and Mike. I call 3 roofers and leave messages for a bid. Only one calls back right away.... Cloise and Mike.

Tommy and Glenn show up just before dark, and after the rain... Perfect timing...spend a good hour talking with me...measuring, explaining, answering my every question... including fair and fast financing suggestions which I needed. In less than 5 minutes, my financing is arranged and approved.

Friday: An army of roofers show up, and don't leave until the roof is done. I'm not crazy about the fact that they were still on the roof at dusk... then dark with spotlights... but they really want to get the job done, and so do I, as more rains are coming.

Saturday: Corey comes by to do a walk through in the daytime... and spends a couple hours reviewing the previous days work. Then Tommy checks up on that... and suggests we really finish this up properly and replace the skylights which are also 23 years old. Makes sense to me... given the leaks issues.

Monday: One of the other two roofers I phoned calls back to come by and give me a bid. A bit late.

Tuesday: Tommy and Glenn come to replace the skylights....and do some caulking and more clean up that I did not even know was needed.

I still haven't heard from the third roofer... but the guy that knows the guy that I could have hired admits the job is done well, and priced well.

Now... a bit of insight as to how I got a leak in the first place. 20 years ago, when downing some trees, one tree fell on the house. It did not do any serious damage... however the exact spot where it fell became the area where my roof went to mush and began to leak. The moral of that story.... is if you have any little minor damage to your roof...get it fixed right away. It took a long time for that weakened spot to get my attention.. however by all accounts, I could of squeezed several more years of life out of this roof if not for that "little damage" all those years ago.

I am thankful for Cloise and Mike... their honest approach, their values, and workmanship. If anyone reading this needs a roof. I hope you will give them a call.

We have an older manufactured home that was on it's 2nd composite roof, after the last hard rains we discovered many leaks coming in various places around our home. Our daughters work at Morrision Gravel in the office and recommended your company after the contact they had with your employees there.

We called, and the next day Tom was at our house, checked the roof and how it was constructed, (we had opened up the ceiling in the laundry room so we could see the extent of the damage) and he explained that the composite roof would continue to cause problems due to the low pitch of our roof and that they would not be able to guarantee that type of roof, he recommended a metal roof. I did some checking, and found that that was true due to the low pitch of our roof. They were here as soon as the roofing material arrived, and replaced our roof ( in rainy weather under a tent), did extra work on our rafters to strengthen them, replaced the soffits and it looks fantastic, and best of all, we are worry free with a 20 year guarantee.

When they were measuring and giving the estimate, it was clear that they were very knowledgeable about the construction of our manufactured home, and felt sure that they would be able to take care of our problems.

They went over and above, reinforcing where needed and replacing rotted areas. We can't begin to say enough about how much this company impressed us with their professionalism and quality of work! They were all nice men and worked extremely hard.

We would encourage anyone to use them if you need help with your home. A very professional company providing quality work.

My mother is an 84 year old widow and one windy rainy day the shingles blew off the roof and it started to rain in her house. She was devastated and very scared. The shingles were old and she needed a new roof. I called Cloise & Mike Construction Inc and talked to Tommy. I just had my garage roof replaced. The work crew showed up on time, worked well together as a team. There were many obstacles around my garage that didn't make the job easy to work around. Cloise & Mike Construction did a great job fixing our roof, from the initial consultation through the final job, and were able to jam our roofing emergency into their busy work schedule when our ceiling was caving during the severe 2010-2011 winter storms.

The crew was courteous, professional, and were up front with us on any changes that were necessary for them to do the job right. They completed the job fast--in one day--and left the place spotless, cleaner than before they arrived.

Chris, the receptionist, was also great--when our dining room ceiling was leaking streams of water, she called my mom to reassure her that everything was going to be just fine, which it was. She got right back to me when she said she would--a rare thing these days.

Tom Cowan was also great to work with--he talked to our insurance company, explaining the nature of the damage and the repairs, and was very accommodating of our insane schedule. He displayed great follow through, as did the rest of the company.

My wife and I had been fighting intermittent water leaks in our house for over a year. We finally decided to get some professional help. We talked to several friends who had satisfactory roof repairs and they all recommended Cloise & Mike Construction Inc. We then called Cloise & Mike Construction Inc. and talked with Tom. Tom came up immediately, we talked over our problem areas and Tom wrote an estimate for us on the spot. We were short of cash at the time and told Tom we could only afford to do half the roof. Tom assured us that was not a problem and that when we decided to do the second half it would blend right in. We agreed to have half the roof done and Tom altered the estimate on the spot. The first half was completed and it looked great. Approximately two months later we had the second half done and the entire roof is beautiful. Dear Tom, I called your company because I had a leak in my roof around my woodstove. I can't fix these kinds of things myself. I can't even get up on my roof. Your man answered my call and made an appointment to come out and look at what might be causing the problem. He showed up right on time. He found the caulking around the metal parts of the roof were not in good shape. So, he caulked it for me and he even fixed a gutter that I mentioned was a mess. Little things? Not to me.
